Leopard vs Vista (TROLLS GTFO)

Hey folks.

I'm fed up with my Toshiba Satellite. It's not up to what I'm doing for College which is mainly used for Video Editing, Graphic Design and the like. So my entire family agreed I should get a Macbook Pro or an iMac G5 which I don't mind at all cause I can dual boot with Vista to play games. I am attracted to MAC's not because they look pretty, but the software that's available for it like Final Cut Studio, and Aperture 2. Now, my father is willing to shell out the $2,000 price tag for the MAC but I've been thinking of doing a custom build instead and running Windows Vista. But there's a few things stopping me. We all know Leopard is stable and Vista may kick you in the arse. Two, the software used, it's like every job search I hear or see requires familiarization with MAC and MAC software.

Your thoughts much appreciated. :)

Get the mac. And trust me those MBP's are darn solid and tough so they are very durable. It's only .95'' thick so thats pretty. OS X is the best OS in the world. And bootcamp is great and if you need to run lets say office 2008 for pc and dont want to restart VmWare fusion FTW. It can use your BootCamp partiton. Also the MBPs are faster than a G5 PPC iMac + The MBP is intel and the next OS is dropping PPC support

cheers.

hmmm. i've been thinking of getting a Psystar running OSX Leopard so I get better hardware for less money.

My Ideal Specs for the Psystar build:

19" Widescreen Monitor
E8500 @ 3.16ghz
4gb DDR2 800 RAM
750gb HDD 72,000 RPM
20x DVD R RW Optical Drive
Nvidia GeForce 9800GT 512mb
Multimedia Keyboard and Mouse
3 Port Firewire 400
Built in 802.11 adapter
Bluetooth Adapter
and one year warranty

Total cost: $ 1,791.99 which is still cheaper than the Macbook Pro and the top of the line iMac G5!

Oh don't go Phystar! Apple is in the middle of sueing them for about 2-4 billion.

drats. what happens if i buy the rig before they sue?

oh the G5 thing was a mistake. i thought the new one's are called G5's. it's the Intel iMac's is what i'm after.

They wont send software updates like airport utility,security,10.5.? or 10.6.?

iMacs are nice. I played with one and their slick. But If it's collage stick with a portable machine.

Yeah you're right. portability FTW.

the Macbook Pro should be good running games. C2D 2.53ghz + 9600GT 512mb. I'll be playing mainly Test Drive Unlimited only and some Valve games.

^ What do you mean? Dual boot on a normal PC with Vista and Mac OS?

As far as I know, it's a long, ass-kicking process to install Mac OS on a PC although it's possible...

:P

No, it's very simple actually... just like installing any other OS. It's illegal though, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Get the MBP their mad fast. I just played lost planet for 5 hours atm on vista via bootcamp. Also OSX86 has flaws like 1. My OS X 86 PC cant run iMovie and wont render properly in Final Cut Express so thats sucks and i had to pay 22€ on ebay to get a wifi stick for it that mightn't even work in 10.6
