lexmark model x1290 printer problem

My Lexmark x1290 will no longer print red either as a true color or a mixture for other colors. Removing and then reinstalling the Lexmark software didn't correct the problem. Next I did a system recovery from a point 2 wks earlier and the problem cleared up. Two days later the problem was back. Both times this non-red problem started after an Adobe up date. Before I try to uninstall that last up date does someone know another cure?

I'm using Windows XP with all service packs and up dates.
