LF New XPS Battery?

my 1 yr 7 mo. old Dell XPS M1710 battery seems to have just went out.

80whr 9-cell lithium-ion 11.1v 4800mAh
Manufacturers #: G5266
Dell #:312-0455

local shop that i bought it from said dell told them it would be 200$. i took 1 min on google and found some for 68$. but i dont know much about batteries, do i need to worry about cheep knock offs? are there such? if it has the dell logo on the bat is that enough to insure its legit?

there ARE many knock-off batteries...
just make sure you're buying an OEM one and not a cheap chinese one that was branded with a fake Dell logo and has the potential to light your computer on fire
 
Not always... I've had a small fire in a computer once. Ran better than ever after that o_O. Plus it could be good to have in case of attack. Just throw in the battery and throw the flaming laptop at the attacker. This is all assuming you have time to boot the laptop and let it run for a bit...
