LG DVD-RAM having boot problem

hi... i would like to know if my LG DVD-writer is compatible with my compaq computer. it happens that when i install my LG DVD writer, my pc hangs on and does not load windows. when i change to a CD-ROM drive, it boots the right way.

What model Compaq?

Sounds like your jumper may be set wrong on the LG device.
