LG USB Flash (MAJOR ISSUE)

OK, I just reinstalled my OS. I installed XP Pro. I had to reinstall due to a nasty virus. As I was reinstalling I came across the normal option to format a drive at the (BLUE SCREEN). Well I left my usb drive (1 GIG)pluged in to my computer and didn't remember to remove it. Well, at the blue screen I saw a fat32 partition at about 900megs. At the time I was not thinking about the USB drive being pluged in so I selected that drive (which I believe was the USB drive) and chose the option to remove partition thinking it was a partition on this used laptop computer I bought recently that I didnt see on the last fresh install I did of the OS so I figured I'd remove it. I can put the drive in now and the computer see's it and will ask me to format it. I dont want to format it cause I have some impotrant information I stored on it for the fresh OS install....lol...But I tried to format it anyways just to see if it would and it will not even format it. I can't see any of the data on it. I can see the drive in windows explorer as ( Removable Disk)but when clicked on it asks to format it. Any help on this one? If not can you send me in the right direction?

I just called LG and a man told me he has never heard of that problem before. I asked him if there was a solution and he said no to take it back to Sam's Wherehouse. I said what if I didn't buy it from there? He responded with "Thats the only place that sells them"... lol... OK,Sure... So I looked online and sure enough you can buy them online. But I think I knew that. He obviously didn't know Jack and was going to get his pay check no matter how he helped...

You goofed! Whether or not there is a data retrieval program for flash drives is something I'll leave for someone else to answer. But the likelihood of saving any data on the usb drive at this point is not likely. In fact the drive itself has no online support to refer to on this unless someone locates the manufacturer's site and not the long list of vendors.

Well, I'm pretty sure you're screwed with the information because when you removed the partition, you also removed all the data on that partition. So, you'll just have to format the drive and try to keep that in mind in the future :).

Although, if you wanted to format it for a Mac now, you could... ;)

That's why one good idea is to get a good burner to backup data before you have an accidental erasure of anything important. If you save a lot of data like family photos, contacts, mp3s and other downloads like utilties something like a dvd burner can hold a lot. You can find some good burners for well under $100- these days that can spare you some grief. Flash drives are more for downloading from one system to upload to another. So you can do as DCIScouts recommended there.
