Lightning Issues

Dear All,

Would highly appreciate your help with the problem mentioned below.

I have this problem every year during the monsoons. My Internet cable comes from the adjacent building which is the tallest building in the area, due to which it is quite prone to lightning. when it strikes the switch on top of the building the jolt travels all the way through the cable to the lan card on my mother board and blows it up. Two times its been the onboard lan card so i've had to replace the entire motherboard. i tried attaching a separate lan card but even that was in vain. due to this i cant upgrade to a decent config. i'm stuck with an AMD Sempron 2400+ Gl which is anything but satisfactory. I've tried every trick in the book but still dont know what to do.. is there any sort of device that is available that i can put between the lan cable and the lan card. i know its available for laptops but its not there for desktops.

Regards.
Harsh
