Links Open in New Tab

My friend has a Lenovo Ideapad laptop. She uses Google Chrome. ANY link she clicks open in a new tab. The same happens in IE but she can at least right click and choose what it does.

I've done some Google searching but haven't found a solution. She uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome but no go.

Any ideas?

I always thought links are supposed to open in new tab/window? I don't use tabbed browsing so all my links open in a new window.

Problem has been "temporarily" solved I suppose. Someone else suggested she run CCleaner and I suppose it's behaving now.
