Linksys Router

Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think a true "N" standard has come about just yet. I'd hold off until it's made more mainstream. Otherwise I don't know how well different card/router makers would communicate.

My advise would be to get something like a Buffalo WHR-G54S. Maybe you can do the same with that router you posted, but with the Buffalo you can load DD-WRT which adds tons of features to the router. Mine's been rock solid, too. And honestly, unless you plan to make many file transfers over the wireless network(and I mean between computers, not online) even a wireless B router would be plenty for you.

I've had my wireless lynksys router for over a year and still can't get it going. Every couple of months I give it a go, but darned if I can't figure it out. :(

Get G for right now, the Linksys WRT54G is pretty decent at only $50.

The only problem with that router is any version after v5(I don't think v4's affected) they halfed the flash and RAM... Thus you can no longer load third party firmware to it(IE DD-WRT) Trust me, once you use it, you'll never go back

I've also heard Linksys's quality is going downhill. I can't say if this is true or not, but they are still the most popular brand around. Probably just more out for people to complain about :P

Maybe I can help you, what part are you having trouble with?

Basically the whole thing. :P

I can hook both PCs to the router and it works fine. But I want to be able to put the Dell in another room. I can get it set up at the linksys site, but when I try to get on the internet, it won't connect.

If you have a question, make your own thread :P
