I just shelled out $70 for a linksys router with speedbooster. My internet connection is 100mpbs. my old $30 belkin router works fine, but it can only do 54mbps. the linksys one is supposed to handle up to 108mpbs, but my connection is still 54. is there any way to speed it up. if there isn't, i'm getting my money back.

no, i have a six month old toshiba laptop with a pre-installed card. i had a buffalo router that came with the laptop that was really fast, but it quit working after four months.

i have done research and i need another router. what is the best wireless g router out there for the money that will give me my 100 kbps internet across the connection

I have the Linksys WRT54GS router and the Linksys WUSB54GC Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter both of these wireless devices have ths Speed Booster and I am fairly sure Speed Booster only boost the speed up to 54 Mbps.

In order to utilize SpeedBooster, you need to have a compatible Linksys wireless card. if you are using a different one such as an integrated card in your laptop, then it will just run at the standard 802.11g speeds.

54Mbps is the standard 802.11g speed, 108Mbps is usually what's advertised for SpeedBooster.

Are you using a SpeedBooster (or similar technology) wireless card and router? If there are any non-SpeedBooster cards that are connected to your wireless network then you will only be able to connect at the slowest connection speed.

Yea my router and wireless cards (Minus my laptop's internal wireless card) use the G standard plus the speed booster.

You just said it right there. If you have your laptop connected to your wireless network using the integrated wireless card, it will automatically downgrade the entire wireless network to 802.11g speeds.

Actually my desktops max out at 54 Mbps even using the Speed Booster wireless cards and Router.
