Geez, what the hell happened to this website layout?!..ugh!......

ANYWAY;
Running Win xp pro, Dell desktop, plenty of ram and hard drive space, 3.4 ghz processor.

1).....I have a flash-drive that had boot-able Kali Linux on it. (I simply don't remember what i did to get it on there and get it working).

2).....I deleted it and formatted the flash drive.

3).....downloaded new Linux 2.0 ISO and using "Linux Live USB Creator" (I think that is what i used last time) attempted 4x's to load "2.0" onto it and it will not boot from usb on start-up. (YES, i do have the computer set to boot on start up to that usb port/drive).

WHY did it work with kali Linux and not "2.0". Thanks ahead of time for any assistance.

Geez, what the hell happened to this website layout?!..ugh!

We upgraded the forum software to Xenforo. We were running an outdated version of Vbulletin before which was a security issue.

As far as not getting the flash drive to boot is probably because you didn't do the right procedure. I can't help though as I'm not familiar with that software.

.......I had to double check to see if i was in the correct place!....I followed the "on-line" tutorial and the results were the same.

I have all three and still get the same crapola......I also run anti-vir as an anti-virus and it has a section about preventing changing/altering files...I wouldn't think so but, will disable it in the morning and try again.....The software(s) you mentioned have drop down lists that list OS's and since Linux 2.0 just came out yesterday, i wonder.

I'd use something like unetbootin or rufus instead.

You're literally the first person I've seen complain about it.. :p

Well, i was used to the old layout but, although this is a bit cleaner looking, I'll have to get used to it.

uh, and how does that help me here? (i have already tried it but, will try it again this morning after i shut down my antivirus program)

It sounds like you have no idea what you're talking about :(

You are wrong!...I spelled everything out as to what I have, what I did, what I am trying to do, the older version I erased from flash drive, the NEW VERSION (2.0) you are unaware of (as clearly indicated in my affixed pictures) that I downloaded (ISO) and attempted to install to flash drive.
That doesn't make me incorrect or not knowing what i am talking about. Good luck to you.

Kali is a version of Linux hence why Beers was right about the Kernel version and why he told you you didn't really understand what you were doing: you are installing a version of Linux, not Linux itself.

Do you mind sharing your solution? That way people having the same problem can find a solution here :)
