Linux-compatible LAN adapter

I suppose there are LAN adapters out there that are NOT Linux compatible but I've never encountered one. Wifi adapters are a different story but every system I've ever installed Linux on recognized and worked great with the existing nic.

I would try it first, the chances are good to excellent that it will work.

I haven't had a problem with my wireless or physical adpaters in Linux. They have just been the built in Intel devices though.

Generally, try looking up the network device and see if there is a linux driver for it. If it's realtek, marvell or atheros based they probably have a linux driver already. If it's something else, you might be able to use ndiswrapper.
