My main problem is gettting my internet to work in linux.

also i need to find a good distro.

so about my internet... its broadband, but i still have to enter a username and password. and i can never get it to work in any linux distro that ive tried.

has anyway here done this before and can instruct me?

as far as distro's go i have ubuntu, xubuntu, linux mint and vixta.

apart from those, what would you recommend?

i was having a look at fedora, but the download is like 3.3 gb. and i have really slow internet. so one of the normal 700mb distros would be good.

im downloading Mandriva now to see how that goes.

so to sum it all up.

how do i get my internet that requires me to login to work?
and
which distro would you recommend that i havent already got?

thankyou :)

ok so what settings are you using on windows ?
i mean in "Internet options" in control panel ? for internet ? the same settings here must be applied on Linux.

a good distro (for me anyways) is PCLinux OS 2007 ,it's KDE though.
or try Sabayon

edit : it's not choosing different distro that will make your internet work

i have gone through the internet settings in linux and cant get it to work.

the closest i got was going to terminal and typing in "sudo pppoeconf"

it then asked me for my username and password and seemed to set it up perfectly.
but in the end it didnt work...
seemed the most likely way to do it seeing as pppoe is the type i use.

i will download pclinuxos
