I can't find skype for linux mint, I tried the ubuntu one but it doesn't seem to work, so my question is: Can anyone give me a link to a site where I can download skype for linux mint... or any other version of skype that will work on linux mint?

You should only use the Ubuntu 12.04 one.
If something doesn't work, your hardware isn't configured right. I've used skype on multiple distros with no issues.

Yeah, it didn't work, but now it does, for some reason I had to do the sudo apt-get update command in the terminal in order to get it to work

Probably not, might not have downloaded it correctly and if you have restarted your computer that may have helped.

Sometimes when I restart my computer after a install it helps with the application running smoother. Plus just so you know you will always install Ubuntu or ".deb" to be compatible for your computer. Fedora and you will run into some for Opensuse are different and will not run on Linux Mint, you may also for those two see them listed as rpm or tar.gz which are for those operating systems.

Interesting... linux is like a skill that you need to master in order to be able to use it :D, and I'm not quite getting it yet...

Yeah it can take a little while but you get there soon enough. I remember when I first started using it back in 2008 a buddy at work told me about Ubuntu that is the one I started with but I knew nothing about Linux and what it was and I remember stumbling across Fedora which also ran gnome 2.xx and I was so confused on how Ubuntu and gnome used the same desktop. Over time you will start to find it easier to use then Windows or OS X, I know I do.
