Linux not booting

Hi all,

I would very much appreciate any help on the following issue.
I'm working with a commodity server, which was able to execute Windows 8 successfully.

However I replaced the HD to a Ubuntu-installed HD, so it will boot with Ubuntu. Now, I know this seems weird, but:
1. The hardware itself is an exact copy of a hardware I currently have which runs Ubuntu.
2. The replaced HD (the Ubuntu) is the exact same image of the Ubuntu in 1.

The problem:
The device does not boot. Right after you choose Ubuntu in the startup menu, it takes the device 3 seconds to crash.

Can someone please provide any insights regarding this case?
PLEASE HELP :)

I'm not sure if it's like windows or not but if the sata controller setting in the bios isn't the same as the other machine then it won't boot. Compare bios settings between machines.

Was software used to make the copy of the hard drive (if so, which?) or was the dd command used? What make of hdd are we talking about onto which the OS was copied?
