Having deleted linux and not had any success trying to boot into XP , (ive tried everything and my brother was helping out on the phone but we couldn't get it to work) -I decided to download abuntu and reinstall it to fix the problem.
It begins okay loads up with progression bar etc ,tests my key board but then The screen goes blue and nothing happens, Ive checked if the cd was okay and it is. I was told it should ask me some questions but it didnt.

What could be wrong??

Could someone please offer some suggestions? I don't have any knowledge of computers so feel free to take it slowly, thank you

ok, two questions. If we can help you make your computer boot into windows xp with out the linux, would you want that or would you like to install linux with it. Also is it a cd, or a dvd? thanks

I would prefer to just boot into windows but I dont really mind about installing Linux.I got as far in my attempt to get windows working , but when I rebooted it said "Operating system failure" -or maybe it "error"
I had typed in the FIXMBR
FIXBOOT
BOOTCFG /REBUILD

it asked me then what to call the windows I just typed
"windows xp"

then it asked for I think it was "boot options" I just hit return

then it went to the "cd\windows>" command line
here i didnt know what do so I rebooted it but the failure message came up:mad:
-am I meant to do something else here because it all seemed to be going okay until this point
-also the linux disk is a cd not a DVD i burnt on pre-historic computer downstairs-
