LInux

You could go with Mandrake (now Mandriva) Linux, although you would have to download it off of a different site, not the home site (which is mandrakelinux.com). As for downloading it quickly, go to a frineds and use their internet, there's no way you will be able to do anything quickly on dial-up.

for a good version of linux, get knoppix and do a hd install or mabey suse, but they are large downloads, try DSL (damn small linux) its about 50megs

Can anyone recomend a good FREE NO CATCH version of Linux?
and a quick way to download it as i am on a dial-up modem?
thnx

I'm confused about the No catch part? I've never seen any catches when it came to downloaded any distro of Linux. As far as that goes anyhow I would suggest purchasing a distro as I'd never dream of downloading it on a 56k connection and it's worth the cash.

Also if it's catches your wanting to avoid then I'd suggest steering clear of Mandrakesoft (read up on it). Rather I'd suggest Suse and I've used both of their latest offerings and Suse is just plain better.

Now you see me mention that I've never seen any catches when it comes to downloading Linux for free and then I suggest something about Mandrake, Well I suppose some people have a diff. idea of what a catch is and I thought you might find there little club a catch.

Good luck.
