i found this cooling system for a socket 775 pentium 4, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835106077 , now that the core duo 2 is out i want to buy the http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2280515&CatId=2396

will that cooling system work with it? the system is still going to go on a socket 775 system just a different processor- i dont see why it wouldnt work........
Should work, but the core 2's will run cool due to lower voltages, so stock cooling should be enough, unless you already have water cooling. Or even an aftermarket air cooler will be fine.

Ya no problem, I mean go ahead if you want, especially if you want a watercooled system, but just for the cpu is probably a little overkill.

even if it is overclocked at some point? i figured just to be safe i might as well, its really not a big deal to me

Theres really no need to liquid cool the Core 2 Duo. It runs so cool that it's able to be used without even the fan on the heatsink on! I would recommend a nice cooler, such as the Artic 7 Pro.
