Liquid Nitrogen

Okay, a little warning about using liquid nitrogen.
If it condenses the water may leak on the motherboard and that means that the motherboard will blow. Also the warranty will be WELL null and void by then....

Why bother with Liquid Nitrogen when you stand a huge risk of destroying your motherboard...
Just either use Water cooling or a very high powered fan.

Its way too dangerous. Your talking about -200 degrees. You saw that video toms hard ware guide, where he shattered that rose. Basicly thats going to be your cpu/motherboard. That and you wont find a "nitrogen cooling" specificly for your computer. You are going to have to make it yourself.

Where can I find Liquid Nitrogen?
Praxiar, Air Liquide, Linde are all providers of compressed/liquified gases, though I don't know if they would sell for non-commercial use. Universities usually have a good supply as well.

Unless you're doing this for the fun of it and wouldn't be upset at a catastrophic failure, I wouldn't recommend using LN2. You also need to be very carefull with it, use a dewar etc.

Dude you have no need for LN2. Your not going to break 20,000 3dmark05 points. You just plain arent.

LN2 is a temporary cooling solution. Just get some liquid cooling and run your rig for the fun of it, not breaking world records.

Hmm.. liquid nitrogen is pointless and does not provide permanent cooling. That should be something for you to take into account. As well as that, it is too dangerous for you to play around with and simply not a smart cooling solution at all. Why do hardcore overclockers use it? They use it because that allows them to push the CPU to extremes yet never for long periods of time. L. n. is used for breaking records....which you will not break no matter how hard you try :)

JAN :D

That's not the public.
Yes it is. Having contacts doesn't make a person not part of the public. Anyone who knew me personally would have to look no further to get LN2.

Yes, you are the public, but that wouldn;t make it availble to the public becuase one person can get it.

listen people i think we have got the point across that LN2 is hard to get hold of and potentailly dangerous, but let s lay off him now. It not like he's breaking the law, and its not really dangerous (no more than building you own ac-dc convertor).
If he had a spare rig to screw with then why not, i know i've done some crazy projects (thinks back to jolly rogers cookbook)

^it is pretty dangerous. a single drop can cause deep tissue damage, and liquid n tends to splash if poured too quickly: just one drop in the eye pretty much guarantees blindness.

It's not spaer hes spending 5000$ to constantly cool it with it, and it can be very dangous.

You miss my point entirely.

So wear some safety glasses/goggles and you'll be fine. I've had worse injuries from computer cases than I've ever had handling LN2.

Anyway, I think this topic has gone about as far as it can on this forum. If seriously considering this go to the forums I listed before. Just two main points:
- it is a custom job and is potentially dangerous, so a lot of planning and research is required
- as is the general rule, no matter what you do there is someone better than you at it, so don't expect to break any records

that's not what my mom told me. besides, who holds the records, then?;)

wow you're so stubborn. OYU'RE NOT GOING TO FIND LIQUID NITROGEN just get watercooling and instead of water make a solution like engine cooling fluid and water or something or get one of those refrigerator cases

That guy in the video must have been insane. We will just need to wait until they give better processors that WON'T need LN. Besides, if you're really deperate, it would seem there is some of it being sold on eBay.
