Little help for someone out of the know

:) Hey all
I was looking for a little help, i know the basic computer setups, I can put a computer together with all the parts and set it up just fine. Unfortunately I dont know which components are compatible with each other. I was thinking about buying an alienware computer but for the same money I figured it would be more fun and cost effective to build my own. If you guys could give me a little help it would be greatly appreciated.

Now I was looking for a gaming machine that can play all the top shooting games, especially ones that are rich in graphics without much problem. Im sure the first question will be what is the price range. Well i havnt determined one I make really good money and am willing to spend it on a great machine. As for processors had both AMD and Intel and never really noticed a difference, so that doesnt really matter.

So if you guys have an awesome setup i would appreciate feedback.

firstly...go with a AMD 64 cpu...that would be skt 939...you need to find a good motherboard and i guess about 1gb ram would serve you good...then you need a good graphics card...i prefer you buy a board that supports SLI...but buy one very powerful card...if you like then you can upgrade to a second card...i would search some products and let you know

Other options is to get a SLI motherboard. Personally I dont think SLI is really needed but it will give you some extra FPS in some games.

OK...my bad

um just a word of advise...you should get devices that would also help making games smoother...like a good mouse and keyboard...probably from logitech...good speakers...
and since mbgold2 gave some great compotents all i can add is that you should get the best looking case and a good PSU...a great case is an asset for a gaming comp
