Little problem with a corrupt file system

So I had a friend bring me there laptop because it was full of virus's and what not. Well they tried to run the recovery disc on it but it turns out the process was interrupted which in turn corrupted the file system.

I had the drive in my external enclosure and every time I try to open the drive up it reads an error " Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Error).

The hard drive is good, but how do I fix the file system on it? Or is there not a way?

But what happened was the guy started to run the recovery disc and then stopped it in the middle of the process.

The drive still shows to be healthy.

It's either the cdrom drive or the actual cd if you get the cycle redundancy error while loading the recovery cd.

Hold on, let me re explain this.

The guy tried to run the recovery disc on his computer because of virus's. He unexpectedly stopped the recovery process before it was over.

When you try to boot up the computer, it shows the windows page like its loading and then all black, nothing happens. Cant access safe mode or anything.

I took the drive out and put it in an external enclosure and hooked it to my computer.

When I try to access the drive it asked if I want to format it. I click cancel and then the error message pops up " Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Error)"

So at this point I recommend totally wiping the drive with either killdisk or dban and then start the recovery process with the recovery cd's. You need to start from scratch.

So pretty much no way of trying to recover any media on it at all?
That's what I'm trying to do at this point is try to save some files for this guy before wiping it.

Can you hook the drive up directly to your computer without using an external case? So you have ran a diagnostic on the drive? What software did you use and brand of drive is it?

Yes, the drive is directly connected to my computer with an external drive at the moment. It is a Western Digital 640Gb

I cant run Check Disk, No diagnostics will work on it because it keeps saying its showing as RAW data.

When i go into disk management, it does show up.
Shows 3 Healthy partitions.
The recovery partition 14Gb, the Active, Primary partition 100Mb RAW, Primary Partition 582.07 Gb RAW.

The recovery software I have used is Recuva, Ease US Data Recovery, Active File Recovery, Active Partition Recovery, and tried TestDisk.

Everything either doesn't work or says that the partitions are unreadable.

I haven't tried to boot back into the recovery disc since that owner screwed it up.

I wanted to try and run that KillDisk program just see if I could get it erased.

If that program its self says that it cant delete any sectors or that I cant even format the disk, then its bad like you said right?
