little problem with my new hdd

hey, i recently bought a new hdd cuz my old one got fried, but now when i hook this one up. and go to load an os to it, the windows program doesnt read it. like it wont show up in the partition section, so then it asks me to load the drivers for the hdd or somthing, but i dont have any discs for it? how do i get my hdd to be read by my pc so i can get the os installed? thanks!

edit: Also the bios doesnt read the hdd either? but i plugged my bros hdd in and it read it??? man im gettin frusterated lol

Might be a BIOS issue. Flash your BIOS to the latest version and see if that fixes the issue.

The bios should see the drive if you have drivers loaded for the OS or not. Have you tried hooking the drive up to your brothers to see if its recognised or not by the bios.

i did try taking his and attaching it to mine, and it read it. but it wont read my 500gb or my new 250gb , i dont get it
