Loading screen freeze

Hey guys!, hopefully someone can help us cos im really stuck!

Just built a comp q6600, 9800gt, coolermaster 550w psu, antec900, vista64 bit ultimate

Ive narrowed the problem down to being gfx based...everytime i install drivers on the card then restart the loading screen freezes, so i have to go into safe mode and uninstall them for maybe half a second on the loading screen i think the fans stop its freezes then the fans start again but it just hangs

any ideas much appreciated

You are likely seeing the same type of problem seen with the ATI card here using the factory disk where there is a problem with that version of drivers. Check out the support site for that make of card to see if there's a newer update to download for Vista64.

I ran into this last year with the then new line out where the Catalyst 7.9 on the cd and then at the support site needed a patch that also didn't work right. The next 7.10 and better 7.11 cleared problems up.

You likely are seeing that or are trying to install drivers intended for the 32bit editions of Vista maybe even XP? On occasion it's simply a problem with a new line of cards until the bugs are worked out software/driver wise.
