Local wireless network

I would like to have a network setup (local, without internet) just as you can do with a switch and cable (pc1, pc2:192.168.1.102:192.168.1.101, ...) but then wireless. What do I need and how do I configure it? The operating system is win xp pro on all devices. Thanks in advance ...
 
You can use a standard wireless router without an internet connection to it. That approach will also give you a DHCP server so you don't have to rely on statics or APIPA.
 
So limit the DHCP scope and use static addresses then? You can have both, or just disable the DHCP server on the router, it doesn't make a difference.
