Logitech G5 mouse lag / freeze problem

My mouse started occasionally freeze for a few seconds every 10 minutes or so. When it does freeze for a brief moment, the computer acts as if the USB is unplugged and replugged really fast (you can hear the plug & unplug sound). but the mouse light stayed on all the time.

This problem started AFTER i switched to a new mouse pad (steelseries). I did some research and someone mentioned it might be the response rate of the mouse. Since the new mouse pad provide much more define surface, the response rate for the mouse might overload the USB for a brief moment, which caused the problem. So I went and got the newest Set Point from logitech, and changed the response rate from the default 500hz to 125hz which is the default rate for standard USB connection. To some extend this reduced the number of freezes I get when NOT playing games. But when I play games (starcraft 2), it still freezes, and after it unfreezes, the speed is set to OS setting instead of Set Point setting. And the response rate is back to the default 500hz instead of 125. I have tried to rollback driver but it does not work.

Someone please help me to solve this. It seems to be a combination of software and hardware problem. I'm using windows 7. THANKS

I can't remember the specific setting for it, but have you increased the amount of memory allocated. I have the same mouse at home, but I'm not there.

to be honest i don't use setpoint. i just plug the mouse in and use it. same goes for my g15 but i use the LCD apps.
