I'm subscribed for like 768 kbs internet or whatever, and lately I have been getting super slow speeds!!! me, thinking my neighbours are hogging my bandwidth, have been downloading crazy amounts of files and sucking more bandwidth than a mosquito sucks blood!!!:D lol...anyway, my modem also kept losing its connection and stuff.

I decided to try something different tonight, and in 10 min, I ripped the heatsink and fan off an old pentium 200 mmx, found an old 12 volt adapter for a k-nex set, spliced the wires, connected them, taped them with electrical tape, and connected the heatsink to the modems cpu thing.

Now, believe it or not, my modem is working better! less lost connections
!!!!! My modem before got super hot, almost too hot too touch easily. Now, it dosent even get warm. Muahahahaha...Post ur comments ;)

This is a pretty common mod for some Linksys routers. Why didn't you just use the current 12v input?

Oh, and I hope the cable company doesn't own your modem :P

haha yeah my friend did that...I still don't want to take the chance of screwing something up in the process.
