When windows boots up, when it gets to the little bar going across with the xp logo above it, it takes ages to go do this abnormally long amount of time, i havent changed or installed anything new on the computer just rebooted and it does it every time, once its done windows loads the same speeds as usual after that, any1 know the solution??? please

First step is to "defragment" your hard drive, to do this go to you windows drive (C:\), right click, PROPERTIES, TOOLS, click DEFRAGMENT NOW. It will take a LONG TIME, perhaps leave it on over night...

ok, pop your Win XP disc into your CD drive, click on START - RUN - type "cmd" - hit ENTER - type "sfc /SCANNOW" - all without the quotes though... this will scan through your windows system files and replace corrupt or damaged ones with the original windows ones. do that and see what happens...
