Longest Battery Run time

I am think of a new PC laptop for my next semester so I am in no hurry.

Does anyone know of any laptop that has long battery run time when word processing? It would be best if it can last over 3 to 4 hours.

Thanks

I second that.

Most subnotebooks will last that long.

Or any laptop with at least a 6 cells battery.

Macs :P

It depends.. when they are new they tend to not last long (in time)

This is how you make it longer.
Charge full... completely flatten... do this 3 to 5 times and then it should last a long time... with a dell i got it to last for 4 hours.

No way dude, with a 6 cell on a standard laptop you'd be lucky to get 2 hours.

Any laptop with a 9 cell battery, on the other hand. My dell with the 9 cell lasts about 4-5 hours of word processing.

On my Dell Inspiron E1520 that I used to have (15.4", C2D, 8600M GT) with a 9-cell battery I got an average of 4.5-5 hours under normal use, such as word processing, internet browsing, etc. However with the brightness all the way down, and doing some very basic tasks I got upwards of 6-7 hours.

WOW!!!! :eek::eek:

Also the lower contrast you have on the screen... the longer it will last as well.

Lets look back to the first post, I think he had "PC" in BIG RED BOLD letters, I don't think he wanted a mac...

how'd you get it to show the amount of time remaining? i only get the percentage. i'm on vista home premium.

Actually I was looking at the eeepc before I posted here. They do look nice i liked it allot from the picture. But It is a little to small, I can't imagine how I can type on that thing.

I though of macs and kinda liked it seeing how I install windows on it and all but the single button mouse pad turns me off.

0mega, the time you show me is like a dream com true, I never even hoped for a pc to last over 4 hours lol. :o and yours is almost double of my expectations.

With the 9cell battery does it stick out on the back? Because I am very picky when it comes to things sticking out of any laptops.

Going to check out the dell 0mega showed. just wanted to post a reply first.

It depends if the laptop/battery support it, but if it's capable then it shows it by default. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the time to display though.

Theres no point in getting a Mac if you are mainly going to run Windows on it, and as for the no right button it's actually easier to deal with then you think. Theres an option to hold two fingers on the touchpad and click the mouse button, which is the same as CTRL + Click, or on a PC, right click.

The 9-cell batteries that Dell makes are great (when they don't explode, haha), it does protrude probably about an inch or so from the back of the laptop, nothing major, it's worth it for the extra battery life.

I don't want to see you get it and expect to get 7 hours of playing games or something, that was when the battery was at 100%, brightness all the way down, and the WiFi and audio muted. But you should easily get out over 4 hours of web browsing / audio listening.

damn. i guess mine doesn't. :P
It's odd that it doesn't, because even the laptop I had 10 years ago with Win 95 showed the time remaining.

yeah. my sister has a acer aspire and my dad has the new hp one and they both show the times remaining. only mine doesnt, toshiba satellite.

The macs have a good trackpad, i know that a two finger tap is right-click.... they are easy to use then you think! Go into an apple store and a computer store with apple products and have a look at the macs and have a play around with it. - I.E - Functions, how the os works, using the trackpad. But some of the things might be disabled.....
