Looking at new crossfire mobo's

It has come down to the MSI K9AS Platinum (I have the CF atm), or the DFI M2RS. Both are nice boards and give me the extra OC'ing features I am looking for in BIOS.

The only issue is this. I probably will go tri-fire at some point in time, quad is a little much for my wallet though. In tri setup on the MSI it does 16x/8x/8x I'm pretty sure. Where as the DFI does 16x/16x/4x. I don't know if it's as simple and as linear as I'm thinking it is. But wouldn't that mean the DFI board would be better getting an extra 4x out of a trifire setup. Granted the 3rd card in the DFI setup wouldn't make as much of a difference.

Keep in mind I'm not looking to really crack $150 before shipping and I have only really looked at newegg. Any other ideas are welcome just keep the price in mind, also opinions and hopefully facts on if the MSI or DFI is better would be great.

I had the DFI board and would pick it over a MSI board anyday. If you wait DFI is comming out with the M2RS with the 700/750 southbridge.

Yeah I already seen the SB700 on a 770 board, but when exactly is it suppose to hit other boards and whats the benefits of it?

I know DFI has a good reputation and it seems people have squeezed a higher OC out of the 9850's using the DFI board than they did using the MSI one. But what I'm wondering is exactly how much good a 4x 3rd slot does for PCI-E and what would give better results 16x/16x/4x or 16x/8x/8x?

Another issue is I don't know if the MSI board would be able to run 3 cards because most cards out there are dual slot for the cooling, wouldn't that put the fan right on the back of the next card down?
