Looking for a better vidoe card

My current video card is a Nvidea G100 - came with the computer.

I'm looking for one that's better - BUT, it has to be low profile, since my computer case is quite small.

So, which video cards are more powerful than that?

Thanks :good:

Hmm, here is the information I need

-Budget
-Specs on case, which type of tower? MID tower, mini tower, full atx tower? Dimensions would be nice also.

Less than 150$, preferably.
I don't know what kind of tower it is. All I've found out is that the video card needs to be on of those thin ones.

I'm running Vitsa 64, with Intel Pentium Dualcore, 2.4ghz. 4gb of ram.

To tell you the truth, you won't find alot of video cards for that case because it is one of those smaller cases. Most video cards are PCI cards and they usually fit in larger cases that are mid-towers and full towers. They also fit in some mini-towers. What company is the pc from by the way?

Not true. My HP D530 SFF computer could fit a half height card with small/no bracket on it. There are many cards that are low profile. there are low profile 9600GT's with exactly the same specs as full height cards.
Unless you have one of those really small computers.
As for a new card, I'm not familiar with the G100, which Ati card was it meant to take on?

The power supply should be your main concern. How many watts is it, and how many amps does it have on the +12V rail? It should be printed on the side in a chart.

You may wanna think about upgrading your case/psu for around $80, then getting a midrange card like a 4670 or 4830 that is full height. Would leave you with better roads for upgradeability in the future as far as motherboards and cpu cooling in concerned too..

Thanks!
Because ya know, the thought of replacing the case never occurred to me, haha.
I could potentially just buy a really cheap, but larger case.

:good:

Alright, I found a cheap used case that will fit.
Comes with a 300w PSU.

I know 300 isn't much, so I may have to upgrade that too... hmm

Now that I can fit a full size case, what is a good cheap card? :)

The 4770 is a fantastic budget card. It performs just shy of the 4850 I believe, for a much cheaper price tag. From what I've heard they OC like madmen, past the 4850 in some cases even. Get at least a 450w PSU from a reputable company. Go higher and you'll save money in the long run, but no lower than 450w.

Get the Asus EAH4850 Top/HTDI Radeon 4850 512MB PCI-Express 2.0. You will be really satisfied with this one.

Update folks.
From what I looked up, the Nvidea G100 is equivalent to the 9400GT... which isn't very good at all, haha.

I actually have a 7600GT that I have lying around, which according to this:
here
Is much better, lol

So I'm going to use that for the time being :)
I just have to buy a Molex to SATA adapter first to power my HDD and DVD drive

But thanks for the suggestions, I'll bookmark this thread :good:
