looking for a cause

ok yesterday my pc wouldnt power on. It would beep like crazy and the led on the MB was spewing out all sorts of errors. so I pulled the bios battery for a few hours, disconnected everything, cleaned everything, then finaly put it back together and it miraculously started working. however i did find a 20cent piece (australian coins are made of copper and nickle) in the case and im wondering if my young son managed to stick it in my case and that caused a short. I cant think of anything else that would have caused it so do you guys think that is the cause?

That may have caused it. But also sometimes a CMOS clear will fix some POST issues. Sometimes there is no explanation.

Yeah, sounds like it to me. Shorting the motherboard or other components will do that. Thanks though, you've made me realise ill need to kid-proof my pc when i have them
