Looking for a decent laptop...

My price range is < $1000

Im going to be going to college soon and I need suggestions from you guys. I want a nice laptop, with a fairly large screen, a decent battery life, and at least 4 gigs of ram.

I occasionally do some gaming, so dedicated graphics would be nice. I also would appreciate a fast processor.

I'm also into indie music production, and I intend to move all that to this laptop, so anything with low latency or just a fast processor would be good as well.


It doesnt have to be a supermachine...I'm basically looking for the upper-mid range here, and something I can afford.

hmm im running a HP G61, large screen, nice style, decent battery life on power save, and im running the 3gb with a more powerful processor/mobo but there is a version that is the other way round with 4gb but weaker processor/mobo

also what type of gaming do you mean? ive tried playing games such as CoD/MoH and even on lowest graphics thry play quite poorly, but if you are only planning on playing lightweight games such as PvZ then it is certainly good enough

also graphic card is shocking on mine, the 4gb might have better i think both versions are similar prices
 
also i dont know what the price would be in US and i think i only spent £400 which is about $625 so with your price range you could do so much better than mine..
 
When you have delicated graphic card, it seldom have good battery life...
