Looking for a external hard drive...

Hello everybody,

I am looking for an external hard drive. I do not have a lot of knowledge in computer and there is a lot of different devices. As you already know, it is difficult to trust the guy at the store! In fact, I would like a device with USB connection, that does not need a AC adaptor, more that 200 GB and that I can put in my pocket. Does someone have a few suggestions?

It's harder to find such large drives that don't require AC because USB only provides 5v current. 3.5" drives require 12v as well, thus they will not work without AC...

I have the 120GB version of this drive and it's very nice. Rather fast and very quiet. And just for a price comparison...

I have the 250GB version of that drive. I've not used it much yet, but it seems to be a good drive. It DOES require AC, but 3.5" drives tend to be much more reliable and the price per gig is much lower as one might imagine.

you can buy Ext HHD enclosers for cheap, like 12 bucks cheapest ive seen, and then buy the HHD.
you will need a 2.5" if you dont want to use AC adapter and want to stick it in your pocket.

Be warned these do not have any means of cooling and will over heat it overused

A friend of mine got a nice 80GB on ebay for 30 bucks, It was new encloser but im sure the HDD was used, but it worked fine.
