Looking for a good deal on a laptop..Vista,14",~$400?

Hello,

I'm looking to buy my first laptop. Does anyone know any really good deals going on at any online stores right now? The only specs I know I want are:
-Any version of Vista
-At least 14", but the bigger the better
-Nothing wrong with it
It can be used/OEM. It probably has to be, because I'd like to spend, at most, about $400, if possible. The less, the better. If that's unrealistic, than hopefully no more than $600. Do you know of any specials or deals going on now?

Thanks
Andrew

$400 is a little bit unrealistic...

Thanks dais. Yes, I've been looking at newegg and at tigerdirect, and so far tiger actually seems cheaper, but I'm seeing I have to spend at least $600 indeed. But for 17" monitors! So not bad.

So far I'm comparing these... any suggestions? I'm new at laptops.

Acer Aspire 7520-5757 Laptop Computer - AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55 1.8GHz, 802.11b/g WLAN, 1GB DDR2, 160GB HDD, DL DVDRW, 17" WXGA+, Webcam, Windows Vista Home Premium, Open Box - $579.97

(Note that the last one is $50 more, so I'm reluctant about that one, unless there's something better about it)

edit: Maybe the third from last, because it's actually new?

the last one has 2gb of RAM which is good because it comes with Vista so you'll have enough memory to run Vista and your other applications without the laptop slowing down.

Thanks. So far I think I'm going with the 3rd one, but with 4GB RAM extra, for only $70 more. The good thing is that the laptop itself will be new. Is that a good choice?

If you want Vista, 2 GB RAM is a must! That's why those from the first post are all contain 2 GB RAM.

CPU: intel core 2 Duo/ Pentium Dual-core is generally running better than AMD Dual Core
So from the list you've given, Toshiba Satellite P205-S7402 will be the choice.

Thanks guys. The Toshiba was my 2nd favorite choice, but I'm going with the Acer Aspire -with- 4GB RAM, purchased with it, because the Aspire is brand new, while the Toshiba is Refurbished. Thanks everyone for your help! :)

My only concerns with the acer is that Acer is known for bad build quality, and it has integrated graphics. You can't get a dedicated card for $400-600, but it you can't save up any more, integrated graphics will run vista fair. Just disable aero if you get bad performance.

i'm running integrated graphics on my toshiba satellite notebook. intel gma 950. it's running fine with aero on. i just can't have many apps on due to my 1gb of ram. i have the sidebar closed and it helped a lot in performance.
