Hey Guys!
I'm looking for another laptop around $1000. Particuarly, one that is pretty portable (not insanely heavy like those 8lb+ ones!) but also allows me to play a few games on it. I currently own:

Compaq N610C
P4 2.0 HT
512 Ram
40 GB
Some Radeon 7600 32 or 16mb video??

I'm hoping for one with a little more video power; processor doesn't have to be one greater then 2ghz. Also, a gig of ram would be nice, but isn't necessary. $1500.00 would also be okay.

The reason i want a different laptop is because that compaq sure does get hot! Plus, the battery life isn't as good as i was hoping for (with a dying battery too :-/ ). Also I can't play my counter-strike on it without 40 fps.

I haven't been really looking into the laptop market, but im hoping maybe there is a decent one thats portable and for gaming at a nice price. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Phillip

Well I'd recommend a Pentium M processor, you'll get less heat and more battery life. It's a lower clock number so you wont get more than 2ghz for less than $1000, but a low 1.6 Pentium M should outperform your current processor now. For something within budget, there's the Asus A6 series with a built in camera, Asus Z71V that a lot of boutique shops also carry (ABS, VoodooPC, etc), HP DV4000 with an x700 video card & a whole bunch of multimedia features or few Dells that might fall into your ballpark as well.
