I am looking to buy a 22" LCD monitor for between $200 and $230 with a contrast ratio of no lower than 1000:1. If anyone knows of any or sees any deals on a good brand please let me know.

thanks

Here in AUS your lucky to get a 19" Inch for that you can pick up a 19" for around $220AU here at the cheap computer store so if you buy it from a big retailer it would be even worse. But you would be talking around $300 for a 22"

What are you planning to do with the screen??? Anything big like designing, gaming????

So right, most of the parts here are overpriced, i wish we had a Newegg :P i use Static Ice tho.

Look at the Hanns-G HG216DPB at Newegg...219 bucks and it's awesome!

Guys, what are your opinions on this???????????

I've been looking at the reviews on this monitor and they are pretty much favorable. The negatives were cheap stand and crummy speakers. Well I don't move my monitor and I have great external speakers so that wouldnt bother me.

The one thing I have a question about some have said there are no XP drivers but there are drivers for vista. Since when does a monitor need drivers? Is this a flat screen LCD thing? If so, where the hell would you get the drivers for it?

Edit: Just found this:

The drivers on the CD that come with the monitor DO support XP, you just need to manually install them. Without the drivers, your video card will not output the proper 1680x1050 resolution. Right click on your desktop, and click Properties. Click on the Settings tab, Advanced, Monitor tab, Properties, Driver tab, Update Driver, if it asks you to check windows update, check no, then Install form a list or specific location, Don't search, Have Disk, then browse to the folder HG216_Vistainf32 on your provided CD and open the file Hannstar_HG216_driver.inf. Click Next, Continue Anyway, and finish. Close the Hannstar HG216 Properties window, click OK on the window beneath that, and now try to set the resolution slider all the way to the right. it should stop at 1680x1050.

I have this monitor...no drivers needed for XP, just hook it up and you're good to go. Just change your resolution in Windows to 1680x1050. Looks great with the VGA cable, but even better with a DVI/HDMI. Buy it now, you'll love it.
