Which LCD monitor would you choose for gaming?

I'm really torn between two LCD monitors. Gaming obviously isn't the only thing I'll be doing with it; however, when it comes to an LCD that's obviously the main concern that arises.

One's cheaper and smaller, the other is bigger but more expensive. I wouldn't mind paying the extra money for the added size, but minimal ghosting really is more important. Another thing that concerns me is trying to game with a widescreen monitor. I know my 7800GT would struggle to play at its native resolution, so I'd have to use scaling to run games at lower resolutions. It almost seems like a waste of the screen.

ya but the wide screen kicks azz and if you think that theres going to keep being bugs whjile theres all of these wides out then u thot wrong.

I would get a widescreen. i have one and its a dell 20.1'' with a 16ms response time and i have seen no ghosting at all and that viewsonic is 8 ms so ghosting shouldnt be a problem and its great for counterstrike source and battlefield 2 and call of duty and probably alot of other games.

The widescreen one would be my choice, but the response times are getting into the high range.

yeah, i agree.

i would rather get a widescreen, and probably will. if the amount of ghosting bothers me, i'll just return it and get a vx922 :)

..or better yet, i'm working on trying to get a friend of mine to get one :P

I would get the vx922. I've been reading alot about the widescreens because I'm thinking of investing in a Viewsonic 23" incer, but they have been saying that if the game doesn't support widescreen then the game is all distorted.

The 19" version is a very nice model! I'd take that one!

Look at this picture comparing the VX2025WM to the Samsung 930B:

Which appeals to you more?

Widescreen gaming is something that hasn't completely matured yet; however, when it does, it'll be worth a widescreen monitor.

Take for example FEAR. The game doesn't support widescreen resolutions, but with some modifying/editing, voilà!

Running at the monitor's native resolution of 1680x1050.

Also, check out some of these screenshots comparing widescreen gaming to the normal 4:3 gaming.
