Hi guys I'm building a gaming pc it's gonna have the i7 930 CPU 6 gigs of ram and I want a strong card to run my games fine. I am looking at the GTX 480 fermi but people claim the heat is heavy with that card. I'm not biased as this is my first pc build. Any input is highly appreciated

Would you be willing to wait? The GTX 495, 485, 475 are supposed to be coming out in the next few months with the revised Fermi architecture GF106. the 470/480 run very hot and consume alot of power. ATM, you'd be better off going with HD 5870.

Well I'm as impatient as they come lol the 5870 was my first pick. I'm going with i7 950 CPU now since it's 10.00 more than the 930. I like the looks of the one the fellow linked above it's a 470. I'm just looking for the best I can get without breaking bank haha next is what SSD and HDD to get. This is killing me lol

I would go ATI as of right now, they seem to make a better product than Nvidia. Not that I think Nvidia is bad, hell I have an Nvidia card in my main rig. However, given price/performance/heat/drivers my current experiences with ATI cards is that they run better.

If you decide to go Nvidia, you will still get a good card, but I don't think you would be getting your full money's worth.
