Looking for a secure Format / Delete

Hey i was wondering i wanted to do a secure format or delete....

Using algorithms....

Probably the Peter "Gutmann" algorithm....


Anyone know a freeware program, bootdisk, bootcd, etc that would allow me to securely erase my files, using the 35+ pass algorithm stated in Gutmann's paper?
 
Darik's boot and nuke is a good one as far as I'm aware. It completely destroys the harddrive's contents and the OS.

Bear in mind though, it does get rid of everything, and unless you spent thousands you probably wouldn't be able to get it back! :eek:

But if it's really important that the data is overwritten then that will be fine, I think you can download it at the "Eraser" website. :D

Having said that, I don't know a lot on the subject so maybe someone more experienced would be more help.
