Hello fellow members,
I am having an issue with my computer and I cannot determine if it is a virus/malware issue or a hardware issue.
Basically, every program that I attempt to run runs extremely slow, the computer is only about a year old and was quite fast and responsive up until now. For instance, I attempted to open up a Powerpoint presentation and it took about 7 minutes to load all 30 slides, whereas it used to take about 30 seconds. Another instance, when attempting to print a Word document, it will take at least 2 minutes for the "Print Preview" screen to come up, and then when I click "Print" it takes another 5 minutes for the document to actually print. Even programs like Internet Explorer run extremely slow, when I attempt to open IE it'll take at least a minute for it to open, whereas it used to take just a few seconds.
So, I've got the free version of AVG which I've used for years and have always been satisfied with, I ran a full system scan and nothing was found. I also ran a hardware diagnostic, and every piece of hardware passed 100% (I've got Windows Vista by the way).
Does anyone have any advice as far as where to go from here? I have already backed up my system on an external HD, but I am kind of lost as far as further diagnosis... Any advice is much appreciated, thanks guys!
