Looking for DVD Burner Drive Firmware/Software

Hi,

Recently, I got an old DVD+-RW Dual-Layer Litescribe drive from someone I know. He got it replaced with a new one under his warrenty because it was working very intermittently on his computer apparently. I plugged into mine and so far it works fine. I have burned a few CDs with it.
Anyways, for some reason, when I put a DVD-R in, it wouldn't read it. When I installed this drive, I just plugged it into the IDE cable, rebooted, and let Windows install it automatically. Considering that this drive has Litescribe support, I would assume there is a special firmware or software for it?

Could someone please point me where I can get this firmware or software so I can burn DVDs? It appears as a DVD-Ram Drive under Windows and more specifically as: HP DVD Writer 840x.

Thanks! :D

Go to HP's website and download new firmware. You should be able to just search for the drive on HP's site. You could also google that drive name and see if any problems come up that are similar to yours.
