Looking for good free virus scanner

I have never used a virus scanner before, I dont want to pay money. I have never had a virus.

One of my computers is just freezing up and I just want to make sure.

I would try AVG Free edition or Avast, those are pretty good. If you want something more indepth you could always get a free trial of Eset's NOD32.
 
i know you said free, but nod32 isnt that expensive, its definitely worth the money if you are looking for great protection
 
I am not stupid, I dont need protection. Just one of my friends got on one of my pc's and connected it to the internet. I just need to make sure that reason why it's crashing isnt due to a virus.

edit: and if you arent stupid then i guess you have heard of the search button. you will find about 20 threads asking the same question you did. but then again, you arent stupid, so im sure you know how to do that
