Looking for good laptop under $800

What do you guys think would be a good lappy for under $800? I was looking at the HP ZV6000. It has a sempron 3,000+, 512mb of ram, 100gig hdd, and just some other misc. features...What would you guys reccomend? All I really want is a lappy to watch movies on, and just take with me when I go somewhere I can't take my desktop. And maybe play some games, but nothing more demanding that Halo. If my dad's old 1.5ghz Celeron lappy can play it, I think the HP can play it. Anway, what other ones would you reccomend? I'm open to anything, and the cheaper the better.

Oh there's a bunch of them nowadays. There's even 120gb hard drives now. Yeah, I know time flies... ;)

even 200gig now, but it costs plenty.:)

hp has some pretty good notebooks. maybe a toshiba. im not sure if they have one that inexpensive though.

i am using a compaq presario 2100, and it has been good to me for the last 2 and a half years, so i would reccommend and hp/compaq to anyone.

I would too. Although, I dont sell any of HP/Compaq lappies, I have to admit they are great for the price. Their support has gotten very good lately, too. Now you can talk to a support rep instantly on the phone or chat online. And they speak english (sorry Dell). After they revamped their image a couple years ago, their products has gotten very good too. I still think the DV1000 would've been the best all-round system on the market if they only had a better screen.

So back to the ZV6000, it's a good system. But it is old, fat and heavy. Although you may be the occasional gamer, don't expect much from any integrated graphics cards. The 200m is pretty good, but would you want everything else to come with it? I also recommend the Compaq V2000, it's thin, light, cheaper and more up to date. Doesn't look like a monster on the table either. But not so good GPU.

compaq V2000z mayber? same as the hp u are looking at, only smaller, and i think even a little cheaper.
