Hi All,

I currently have a P5B-Deluxe motherboard along with a E6600 Core 2 Duo Processor and 2GB of Corsair DDR2 667mhz ram. However I am looking to upgrade to something better that will be alot faster. The computer is used daily and I do alot of dvd converting and have quite a few programs running at once. The graphics card is fine for the moment.

So please could someone recommend me a new processor and memory. Will the motherboard be fine to keep? I also have 3 hard drives, 160gb, 250gb and a 400gb which I am keeping. I currently have a Soprano VX case which doesn't seem to have enough space and fans for this.

All help is appreciated. Thanks.

I think the Q6600 is fine. You can keep that. The motherboard could be replaced, I do not think the P965 chipset is that good. Look into a X38 or P35 chipset motherboard from Gigabyte/MSI/EVGA.

As for the you ram, yup. Get DDR2 800. You current motherboard supports this speed, and so will any other replacement.

I don't have a Q6600 at the moment but would this be good to get or is there something else? any other suggestions on cases and how much memory?

he has the E6600 dual core, not the Q6600 quad.

anyways, the newer 45nm intel cores just came out that are nice. they come in 2 or 4 cores at a reletively good price. pick the one that suites ur budget
