Looking for "How to Build" Advice

Thank you to the people who gave me this input in my other thread. Now I want to gather information on building it specifically on motherboard and cpu. Videos would be most hopeful as well as anything else you can share
I've ordered:

That's very similar to the build I'm planning.

I have found the newegg build series (a 3 part video series) very helpful. Here are the links:

Very in-depth, going all the way from what parts you need through to the OS setup and everything.
 
Doing the test out side the case is pointless. If you have a bad piece of bad hardware is no easier figuring it out. Unless it turns out to be the motherboard. Pus your doing it twice and talking a chance of screwing something up twice.

Depending on where your grounded motherboard holes are, its easier to install the memory and CPU/heatsink on the board first, like said unless they cover a hole.

I usually put the drives, harddrive/CD/DVD and power supply first.

Put the backplate in. Make sure you have a standoff under each grounded hole on the board. Install the board and scew it in, with the screws just snug.

Then hook the case power switch/reset/harddrive LED blah blah blah.

Install the video card.

Then start hooking up all the power cords/cables/case USB cables and route them the best you can, plus the CPU fan connector.

I just watched the video he never mentioned the standoff when mounting the mothherboard is that usually already there with case or is that something you install?

thanks im looking forward to first time doing this. any other input is welcome. im gonna transfer my dvd burner drive and hard drive from current pc to the build. ill prob upgrade them down the line sometime

In the newegg videos? Yeah, he mentions to make sure the standoffs are correctly positioned because it can short the board out.

So in general, do most of you skip the boot test build (outside of the case)? In one sense it didn't seem like too much extra work, since a lot of the stuff is installed on the motherboard prior to mounting it anyway. But in another sense, it did seem kind of pointless.

Sort of a weird side question, but my motherboard *did* come with one of those tiny speakers to install directly on the board. Is that only meant for the test boot, or do you leave that on the board after completing the build?

I know, silly question... :P
