I've had my pc for some time now and i'm looking to upgrade soon, i'd like some tips on what would be best or most practical in upgrading first as there might be some time between different parts being upgraded.

SPECS:

Windows 8.1, 64-bit

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7770.

CPU: AMD FX(tm)-4130 Quad Core 3817 Mhz.

RAM: 8 GB

Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P

PSU: 700w

This is the first time i've ever posted on a forum so if i'm missing something please give me a heads up.

Thanks. -Guy from Iceland.

What are you looking to do with the computer? It's already a pretty decent rig for gaming. If you want to upgrade still, how much are you looking to spend?

I don't have a budget at the moment, i'm just looking into my options and i would prefer playing most games as high as i can and i'm not getting quite the performance i'm hoping for. Most Games play from 40-60 fps while older games play at 150 fps+ and the newest of the new play at 30-40 fps.

Upgrading to an FX 8320 or 8350 would be your best bet as well as a stronger graphics card. I'd upgrade the video card before the CPU though, if you had to pick between the two.

If you want to get better gaming performance, the biggest bang for your buck is an upgraded video card. A faster CPU and more RAM would help, but no where near as much as a new video card.

So i'm thinking of a Gigabyte R9 280X but i'm not sure of it's performance, it's around 460$ USD here in Iceland and there also the Gigabyte GTX 760 wich does costs 70$ less. Are these cards good for the money i'm spending on them because i'm not happy about spending extra money on performance i'm not going to notice.

Also, Gigabyte R9 270x is half the price of a R9 280x, is there really that much of a difference?

How much does the GTX 970 or 980 cost? Those are the two best cards for the price right now.

The GTX 980 is almost 900$ and the 970 is 550$

A bit expensive but if it's worth for the performance i could manage to hold on a little longer for the extra money.

For $90 more, you would be much better off with the 970 over 280X.

If that is too much money, even the 780 is better: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1041?vs=1036

Thanks this has helped a lot i'm thinking about going for a GTX 970, the 980 is a bit out of my price range but as i go and get older i'm most likely going to have a better card than that anyways so thanks for all the information i've never tried a forum like this and this was a lot faster and more informative than i thought. :good:

Aside from pricing issues, etc, would seriously considering getting something like Acronis and make images as you go.

That way if you happen to lose your OS or files partway through the build or when completed, it won't be so disastrous.

I keep a basic changelog with dates that helps track what is contained within each image.
