Hello,
I have a 4 or 5 year old Dell 2350 and it just cant cope with multi tasking etc. So, my parents have agreed to get me a new PC for christmas and I have a few quesions.
First off I show you two systems that I came up with on the Dell site.

Dimension E520 - €780
Intel® Pentium® D 915 Dual Core Processor (2.80GHz, 800MHz, 2x2MB)
Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
Collect & Return, 1 Year Service only
MONITOR Dell™ 17" Value Flat Panel (E177FP)
MEMORY 1024MB Dual Channel DDR2 533MHz [2x512] Memory
HARD DRIVE 80GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with 8MB DataBurst™ cache plus the 80 gb one I have in my pc.
OPTICAL DRIVE(S) 16x DVD +/- RW Drive edit
GRAPHICS CARD 256MB nVidia® GeForce® 7300 Turbocache graphics card

OR

Dimension E521 - €841

AMD® Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 edit
Collect & Return, 1 Year Service only edit
MONITOR Dell™ 19" Value Flat Panel (E197FP)
MEMORY 1024MB Dual Channel DDR2 533MHz [2x512] Memory
HARD DRIVE 250GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with 8MB DataBurst™ cache plus the 80 gb one I have in my pc.
OPTICAL DRIVE(S)16x DVD +/- RW Drive edit
256MB nVidia® GeForce® 7300 Turbocache graphics card
and
DELL PRINTERS Free - Dell Colour Printer 725
MEDIA DRIVES Internal 13-in-1 Media Card Reader

Which one is better? The E521 comes with a few extras like the media card reader, free printer and the bigger hdd.

I want a powerfull pc that wont need to be replaced for a long while. What would the difference be between the Intel and AMD processors be?

Now, my second question. What would they cost after christmas? Do Dell do good January sales? Would systems this powerfull be decently cheaper?

Any and all comments welcome,

Best regards
Robert
