Looking to start up a computer repair business

the only thing I can tell you is become a certified repair shop for HP, Gateway, Apple, Toshiba, etc because all those companies give warranty repair reimbursements. That is where the money is to be made in computer repair. Building custom systems does not really make any money these days. Unless you want to manufacture and there is steep competition on that end.

Consulting is another way to make money, but it requires special skill sets. You can't go audit someone's network and charge them $200/hour unless you really know your stuff.

Tlarkin's right. There have been a few places around my area claiming to be able to repair PCs in the past few years. They closed due to lack of business. "Reparing" a computer really means just replacing dead standard parts with working ones. A little bit of reading and logical thinking and anyone can do it. I'm a prime example: zero formal computer training except for programming in FORTRAN back in 1982. I got a few books from the public library and now I do everything myself.

For free.

as it states your 15 you've got plenty of time to hit up college and do loads of courses and just stick with it.

in the meantime you can repair friends, families computers for a little cash and save up to go to college or university it is over in the uk.

what options for training are there? we have apprentiships where you go and work for a company while training. in the states there must be something similar.

check out all the resources and free course availible. thats my 2 cents.

and i wish you the best of luck for the future :D
