CPU - Intel Pentium 4 2.93GHz
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 7300GS 512MB
HDD - WD 160GB
RAM - 1.5GB (2x256, 2x512)
SOUND - Onboard Realtek High Definition Audio
DVD DRIVE - _NEC DVD_RW ND-2501A (thats what it said in device manager)
CD DRIVE - LITE-ON CD-ROM LTN-487T (said this too)

That's what info I could find on my PC, just like any other 420GR. I already tripled the RAM that it came with and bought the GPU. I don't know if the rest is any good or should be upgraded. I'm looking to do some serious gaming on this computer if that be possible with upgrades. I have a $250 dollar budget to spend upgrading this computer, even up to $300. I want to buy parts from a computer store and have them install the parts because I wouldn't know how. Any comments would be appreciated.

I dont really think you can do much to this computer except maybe get watercoling and overclock it. I had luck overclockng a Pentium 4 W/ HT 2.8GHz to 3.10 GHz

Only thing you can do is get a new processor for the most part, the Pentium Ds I think are still in stock on some stores, get one of those, they're fairly cheap, or get the new Pentium Dual Cores, they're fairly cheap and get the job done. By no means is it "zomfg C2D" but it's better then the one you have now. Plus with that budget you can't get that much out of it.

My advice would be to blow all $300 on an 8800GTS 320MB. Everything you got is sufficient, and the new video card would pound out anything despite a bottleneck.

Sure it's wroth it. He's got enough memory, a good CPU, only lacking thing is that video card. his PC is just fine. Give him the 8800GTS 320MB and he'll be even better. Just because it's a P4 doesn't mean it's a "bad" PC.
