Looooooooooooooooooooong startup times...

Ok in a previous post I mentioned a few scary moments I had with my computer doing some funky stuff, seems to have worked itself out, but now when I startup and windows gets to the Vista Splash screen it takes FOR FREAKING EVER to get into windows. Were talkin 5-10 minutes! Once it is in, everything is peachy but what is causing such a crazy wait time? Before this problem I had installed some microsoft updates including by accident a bunch of language support updates. Are these messing something up? How do I get rid of them or how do I solve this issue?

Language support shouldnt cause your computer to go slower, unless the install got ****ed up,

1) try using a system restore point,
2) Defrag hard drive
3) Run error checking
4) Go to add/remove programs and try to find the language update package
(microsoft update packages are labeled like KB90746 try googling like langauuge update adn try to ID the correct package number maybe you could uninstall it
5) IF all else fails, back up your data and just reformat your hard drive and do a clean install

I found how to remove the language support files, im doing it right now. Hopefully that clears it up. Ill post results later. Thanks!

Well it removed most of the language packs, but there are five it says it cant get rid of. Contacted Vista customer support but they just said 'do it again' to the same effect. Anyone know how I can remove these manually or whats my options?

Update!

Did a system restore to the day before I ran the microsoft updates and it took care of the issue. Lost a few fonts I downloaded (I download A LOT of fonts for use with photoshop) but besides that fixed startup time and got rid of the language packs although in my update history it still says that they were installed. Oh well, their gone now so I guess that shouldnt matter. Thanks for the help guys!
