Loosing connections

Getting a new computer and new wireless linksys with speedbooster router and card, but until that happens I am using a linksys G wireless with
Belkin g wireless card : Utility version 1.0.7.4 , Driver version 1.0.0.0 , Firmware 1.0.0.0 for my computer . I loose connection to the internet constantly. My Belkin link info shows my Linksys G with only 64% strength, how can I make it 100% so I wont keep getting kicked off.

There is also 3 other computer being used by the linksys , one wireless and two using cable . The wireless laptop loses connections too , that why I tend to think its my router not the Belkin .

Any suggestion would be great.

Charlene

The 64% is not the amount of TOTAL signal you are able to use from the router. It is how well it is connecting to the router. It is indiependent of any other somputer wired or wireless. I would update the firmware, as version 1.00.00.00.00.00.00 doesnt sound like the most recent. Also are you using a wireless usb dongle? or an internal wireless card?

also keep in mind that anything from microwaves to cordless phones to PINE trees as in xmas trees can dog or even completely block a wireless signal(little known fact, but true).

Wow, thanks for answering so fast. The router is on the floor in the living room under my husbands computer desk and I am two rooms away. Its happens with no security. My laptop is on my desk but still has the problems with disconnecting when I am sitting across from the router. The Belkin wireless in on top of my monitor in my office.

there may be a firmware update for the router. you'd have to download it from linksys.com give that a try...now, it is compatible with your wireless cards, right?

Took the Linksys router off the floor and put it higher and now it reads the signal at 70 and 75%. So that helped. I did try updating my Belkin before but never thought about updating Linksys. Could I do that with my computer or would I have to do through my husband's where it is at ?

Was reading your message again and had to laugh. We have about 10 huge Pine trees , not the kind that are close to the ground but are way high, in and around our yard, all are ours. Every other house on the block has regular trees. So those would effect it ? If it they are tall ?
